Boxing Day

Happy Boxing Day! In celebration of this day of… um… box…ers…?, here’s a song about it that my brother and his friends wrote 3 years ago! (Click through to view the video if you’re reading this via email.)

I have the day off from work today, as many of you probably do as well, so I’ll keep this short. Also, I haven’t dared to try to offload the pics from my camera this weekend out of sheer fear at the number of them. So instead of scarring dazzling you with picture after picture of food and gifts (mostly food. Almost all food.), I decided to take a quick second to check in and announce the winner of the Vera Bradley & V8 giveaway!

I had an awesome Christmas, which I’m sure you’ll all hear about relentlessly throughout the week. My family was once again very generous, and gifted me with some awesome things. You’ll see many of them in use over the next few weeks especially, since my kitchen equipment arsenal has almost doubled overnight, hehe. There will be plenty of time to brag about my rockin’ Christmas swag later though. For now, I need to get down to biz-naz. I can’t believe how many entries there were for this giveaway! I’m just sorry I couldn’t have drawn more than one winner. Can I get a drumroll please?

Congratulations Micky! Email me ([email protected]) and we’ll sort out the details! For those of you who didn’t win, fret not! I have another awesome giveaway coming your way soon. πŸ™‚

Hoorays!

I might not have had much to say, but I sure have questions for you all today!

Did you have a good Christmas? Do you have off work today? Any big Boxing Day plans? Shopping the post-Christmas sales? Am I the only one who is devastated that Christmas is officially over?

  1. Hope you had a very merry Christmas, Gretchen! I’m just about to go out and brave the boxing day malls… wish me luck aha πŸ˜‰

  2. My family did the same this year and got me kitchen equipment! When I moved out on my own, I definitely had no idea how expensive and how much time it would take to build up a well-stocked kitchen full of all the necessities. Enjoy your day off!

  3. Christmas was weird to be honest. It’s tough rotating families when you’re in a relationship. I’m ready to be back in DC already. Have a very happy boxing day!

    • Oh gosh, I dread the day when Christmases have to be split up and divided and whatnot due to relationship status. I just love Christmas with my family so much! I’m fortunate that my sister and her hubs have been able to spend all their Christmases with us even though they’re married, but I know it will have to change one of these years…

      • It’s tough, but it’s great to see how happy Neal is with my family. I miss my family more than you know, but sadly we all live so far apart. It’s tough, but I am very thankful for my fiancΓ©!

    Merry Boxing Day!
We had an awesome Christmas, though Santa forgot my hula hoop. He must have just left it with someone else. I ate cookies for breakfast today and yesterday and loved it! I have been spreading cheer by SINGING LOUD FOR ALL TO HEAR!

The post-Christmas let down has not set in yet. I am going to fend it off until Easter.

  6. Did you have a good Christmas? Yes. Amazing!
Do you have off work today? I’m a stay at home mom, I’m at work every day, but the husband is home today so it’s kind of like having a day off πŸ˜‰
Any big Boxing Day plans? Nope
Shopping the post-Christmas sales? Didn’t plan on it, but wound up at Target and spent way too much.
Am I the only one who is devastated that Christmas is officially over? No, I’m really sad πŸ™

  7. Alright… explain Boxing Day to me. I haven’t a clue as to what it means. πŸ™
Christmas was awesome- I was spoiled and had a great time with my family. But I am completely wiped out now, and will relish every single second of my time off from work!
Can’t wait to see your Christmas booty! And I don’t mean your “boo-tay.” πŸ˜‰

    • Haha, I’m not really sure either! But according to Wikipedia, this is the lowdown on Boxing Day:

“Boxing Day is traditionally a day following Christmas when wealthy people in the United Kingdom would give a box containing a gift to their servants. Today, Boxing Day is better known as a bank or public holiday that occurs on December 26, or the first or second weekday after Christmas Day, depending on national or regional laws. It is observed in the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and some other Commonwealth nations.”

I feel like I’ve really learned something today. πŸ˜€

  8. I will be anxiously awaiting your next giveaway announcement πŸ˜‰
