Happy New Year, It’s Time to Freak Out

ER MER GERRRRRRD!

18 days and counting people. This ish is getting serious. My whole life right now is made up of seating charts, timelines, and so. much. origami.

Christmas with the fam was wonderful, of course, and my New Year’s is hardly worth mentioning (barely made it to midnight, didn’t go out), but now that the holidays are officially O-V-E-R, it’s really wedding crunch time.

All things considered, I think I’m doing pretty well, actually. My sister is in town to help me complete all my final projects — as well as talk me down when I work myself up — and my two nieces are here to provide lots of adorable distraction… and the occasional helping hand. 😉

On the more exciting side of things, I had my final dress fitting yesterday, which meant I got to take home my wedding dress! So it is now hanging in my mom’s house, where I can gaze upon it’s beauty aaaaaanytime I want. 😀

On the less exciting side of things, I’m basically elbows deep in paper cranes and hot glue, which normally wouldn’t be a bad thing (I do love crafting, after all). But since all of these particular projects are for, y’know, my wedding, the stakes feel a lot higher, haha. Plus, as the date gets nearer and nearer, the list of things to finish continues to grow — not only with wedding tasks, but with getting ahead on work stuff in preparation for my big day + being away on my honeymoon.

That said, now that the big day is tangibly close, my excitement is also growing! I can’t wait to celebrate with my friends and family, as well as to marry my guy and become his wife! Lol, me, a wife. Crazy.

So, with all that said, I think you all know what comes next: The List! I’m actually feeling pretty good at the number of things I’ve got checked off right now, especially because I’m actively working on almost all of the unchecked items.

One of the big things that I know I need to get started on is writing my vows — we’re having an Episcopalian ceremony, but inserting some personal vows before the official church-y ones, and I know I should start working on them so I can get them just right. But every time I start to really think about what I’ll say when I’m standing up there in my dress, staring into the eyes of the man I love, in front of all my loved ones… I start to get really emotional. Hahahaha, I’m such a sap! I can’t even write my vows in my mind without tearing up. Lord knows how the real thing is going to go (Thank goodness for waterproof makeup!)

Okay, guess it’s time to get back to Etsy browsing, paper cuts, and the occasional tearful whimper. See you on the flip! 😉

Home stretch! You know, every time I practiced my vows, I cried, but at the ceremony, nope! No matter what, it’s going to be perfect!

So excited for you! Having read your blog and interacted with you on FB, it’s like watching Real Housewives but BETTER! I can’t wait to see all the photos. Best wishes to you both!

  3. Daaaamn. YOU ARE SO CLOSE! Very impressed with how much DIY you’re, well, DIY-ing. I can’t wait to see pics from the big day itself! Good luck in the home stretch.

  4. I can’t wait to see your pictures! Good luck these next few weeks!

I found your blog shortly after you posted that lovely picture of yourself standing with the beautiful smile holding out your arm, showing off that gorgeous ring. I’ve been silently counting down with you all this time awaiting your pictures and thoughts about ‘the big day’. I am a total (but completely normal and non-stalkery) stranger and I am excited for you! I hope it’s everything you dream of and more! Can’t wait to see the dress!

  6. Fantastic! You have such a very nice blog. I experience also about switching to ground turkey in place of ground hamburger when losing my weight. Because as far as I know, ground turkey can be seasoned to taste and substituted for hamburger in tacos, patties, casseroles, meatballs, chili and many more dishes.
